Housing
On August 3rd the Canadian Bankers association released the data for mortgage in arrears for June 2023 and the result do not look like the Saskatchewan Party’s “Growth that Works for Everyone” is working for you. With nearly double the percentage of mortgages in arrears than the next highest province, and nearly four times the national average, it is clear families in our province are failing to make ends meet.

Rental rates in Saskatchewan also do not paint a good picture for the Saskatchewan Party’s “Growth that Works for Everyone”. An article written by Sask Today states, “The average price for a one-bedroom unit in Saskatoon is $1,110, up 14.2 per cent year over year. A two-bedroom unit averages $1,245, up 9.6 per cent year over year,” this means a single person earning minimum wage, $13.00 per hour (the lowest minimum wage in the country), equaling a net monthly income of $1488, would be spending nearly 75% of their take home salary on rent for a one bedroom unit.
I believe in a Saskatchewan that works with each other for the better of each other, and that is the Saskatchewan that I grew up with, but we do not see that with Saskatchewan Party government. We know the Saskatchewan Party does not care not care about those who can not afford their rent or mortgages. This is why if chosen as your candidate for Saskatoon University-Sutherland and your MLA, I promise to fight for a living wage and a housing strategy that works for you.
